I have been designing and building ceramics since before high school, developing a deep, hands-on fluency across wheel throwing, clay mixing, slab building, and slip casting. My practice emphasizes material knowledge and disciplined process: precise clay recipes for structural integrity and surface response, thrown forms refined for ergonomics, slab-built pieces that explore planar tension, and slip-cast components that allow repetition and subtle variation. For my thesis at Cooper Union I designed and built an avant-garde tableware set that synthesizes these techniques, challenging conventional proportions and surface treatments while remaining rigorously functional. The work balances experimentation with craftsmanship, aiming to advance utilitarian objects into deliberate, tactile experiences.
